  • I am intrigued about this Blogger Beta business, but as yet have not been enticed to switch over - I figure I’ll wait until they iron out a few more of the bugs first.  But it looks like fun.  Labels!  I’ve always wanted to be able to label posts.
  • Our super-cheap rental car company took two weeks to return our $500 insurance bond to us, and that was after a stern email and not so stern phone call (because I’m a wuss) from me.  I wonder what happens if you don’t contact them - they never return it?  Next time I’m going to choose a company I’ve actually heard of - not that that’s any guarantee of decent service, I guess.
  • Due to my resignation, I’m not terribly motivated to do things like, oh, work.  I plan to enjoy these last few weeks as much as I can while stuffed in this windowless office with my computer.  I have been very productively discovering some new blogs.
  • I had a dream a while ago that I turned up to my wedding, and had completely forgotten to organise a dress.  I have a feeling that was my subconscious screaming at my very relaxed conscious self, and as a result I’m feeling a bit less sedate about the whole wedding thing.  It is less than a year away now.  I think I should make time to go and see a dressmaker.  I wrote down a draft guest list today in the wedding planner that our reception place gave me, and that made me feel a bit more organised.  It looks all official when it’s in the planner and not on a scrap piece of paper.
  • The Lioness, who was once my secretary, used to give me stern talks on wedding related topics.  “I’ve haven’t spoken to anyone, except family, who came to my wedding in years,” she said.  “Think very carefully about it.  You’ll probably lose touch with a lot of your friends anyway.  Especially when your bastard husband leaves you for some ugly skinny blonde and then gets her pregnant.”  I am keeping this sage advice in mind.

  • I must have missed something important. Why are you resigning from your job?

  • I used to have those wedding dreams before I got married. I’ve been married in malls, wearing melon and stripes, etc.

    Whoa Lioness! Bitter much? :)

  • Barbara - I’ve been unhappy for some time, and was (secretly) looking for another job before I went on holiday. I signed a contract with another law firm just before I left, and resigned when I got back. I’m now doing my four weeks notice period here, and then will move on to the new firm - hopefully a brighter and more exciting future :-)

Jonniker - hopefully, actually taking some action towards finding a dress will calm my dreaming self :-)

Cat - yeah, just a bit! Definitely not the person to go to for upbeat romantic tales of marriage.

  • Good luck in the new job. It’s best to be happy at that which occupies so many of our waking hours!
