As a little addendum to my links post a few days ago, I’d like to refer to a couple of posts from the archives of another blog that I’ve been devouring - Dry Bones Dance. Christy’s writing is full of wisdom and grace, and a ridiculous number of her entries have made me stop and think, and then examine my thinking some more. And rather than keeping the links I’ve been cutting and pasting for myself, I want to share them.
A while ago I wrote about pacifism, and said that while I admire it as a philosophy, I didn’t see how it worked, practically, in our world. Christy might have changed my mind - she’s written two incredible entries about her own stance on pacifism. I don’t agree with everything she says, but she still makes a very powerful argument to me about the value of peace-making. A somewhat related entry on forgiveness is something I want to go back and read again and again.
I found Christy’s writing on religion and the Bible incredibly moving - Lament for Rachel’s Children gives me the shivers, and this post about the weeping women has a similar effect.
I really liked her 10 tips for blogging as well - practical and inspirational. Inspirational is a word that loses its meaning, I think - it is said so often, in so many different situations, it doesn’t really capture that ache in the heart that occurs when you are truly moved and changed by something. I find Christy’s writing inspirational - I just wish there were more adjectives to describe her and all the other wonderful bloggers out there who touch and change complete strangers with their words. Maybe I should go looking for some.
