Getting back into the rhythm of work hasn’t been too difficult. Prince Valiant is still on holidays, and it is a little hard to motivate myself to ride to the station at 6am while he sleeps on. I keep gazing out the window and thinking of my camera, and all the lovely photos we could be taking together. Wedding things also keep popping into my mind, and I scribble things down on the new notebook I’m keeping in my handbag. “Cake recipe” “Find celebrant” “Bridesmaid?” (The Prince is either going to dump a man, or I’m going to ask his young cousin to be a hybrid flower girl/bridesmaid.)
I went back to the gym for the first time this week after having several weeks off in December, while I did Christmas shopping and errands in my lunch hours. The aftermath is not pleasant - I did a couple of classes, didn’t go near the weights, and various groups of muscles are communicating their unhappiness to me in enterprising ways. I hate how easy it is to regress when you stop exercising. A little like the blogging, I suppose, just more painful.

Cake recipe? Are you making your own cake?

I went back to yoga tonight after several weeks off and experienced the same thing. We really rely on our routines, don’t we?

Working on it Be-zen - I have so much to catch up on!
It’s a bummer, Adriana - I think I’m just starting to break through it.
I’m planning on it TB - I think it’s really ridiculous to pay hundreds of dollars for a cake, so I thought I’d bake one, buy some premade icing to roll and drape over it, and then decorate it with fresh flowers.
If I don’t have routines Barbara, I don’t get anything done - I’m terribly dull

Good for you. I totally agree. We didn’t have a cake at all for our wedding, opting instead for desserts that people would actually eat and enjoy. Since we got married in the tropics, we had key lime tarts and coconut and pineapple sorbets served in actual coconuts and pineapples. They were to die for, so much less expensive than a cake and everyone was talking about them.
Making a cake yourself is really ambitious. I hope it’s wonderful!

Do you also notice a drop in the ability to generate that exercising “high” after a few days away? I think that’s part of the difficulty in returning–the rewards aren’t as great and you have to build back up. UGH!

I’m now wondering if it’s a little too ambitious, TB - I guess I’ll decide closer to the time!
Yeah, it definitely doesn’t feel as good after some time away Cat - I’ve got to work up to that again!
