My new office is beautiful. All sleek and modern and good looking, with two huge windows on the two walls hugging my desk. I have a little desk lamp, and some flowers from my recruiter, and it’s really a vast improvement on my little corridor office where I was hemmed in with shelving.
New big firm [...]

All I can see from my windows

Bene, bene
The removal of the evil cat grass caused both kitties to bounce rapidly back to their usual selves, and they spent the weekend galloping madly around the house and eating enormous amounts of food. Abigail’s stitches were removed without incident, and I’m terribly pleased at the prospect of not seeing the vet again for [...]

The perks are the bomb
“You know,” I said solemnly to my boss, gesticulating with my glass of wine, “one of the things I really love about being a lawyer is getting to go to great restaurants in work hours. I know that’s shallow, but it’s a bloody good perk.” He laughed and nodded. “Yep, I agree. [...]

Kids these days
Pink Lawyer, her partner and her son came over to visit our little patch of bushland for lunch on Sunday. We barbecued, drank wine & I boggled away while her son, who’s about to start high school, chatted on about the relative merits of the Xbox 360 and the way you can use it [...]

Bread breaking out
“Crap!” screamed the man in the van, screeching to a halt next to the set of traffic lights where Smoking Lawyer and I were waiting to cross the road. (In fact, he said something a little ruder than crap.) He shouted it again, and then leapt out of the van into the road, where three [...]

Hens night (where does the aprostrophe go?)
LanternsOriginally uploaded by cee.rose.
I went to a hens night last night, which thankfully didn’t involve a stripper, but did involve penis shaped straws and a Pin the Macho on the Man game (macho being a euphemism for a paper penis in this instance). When I told my mother on the phone that I hoped there [...]

Delving into the murky waters of finances
My weekend with the Doctor was wonderful. As seems to be the case with all good friends, we immediately fell back into our familiar easy camaraderie, as if the intervening three years of sporadic communication had not existed. We spent the all-too-brief time talking, about friends in common, our familes, [...]
